The Balcony is an online venue founded by Nathaniel Ansbach to connect theater artists around the globe. The Balcony creates in-house content and facilitates workshops, rehearsals, and performances among actors, writers and directors around the world, sharing original theater with viewers at home.

Our mission is to create a global community of writers, directors, and actors in the digital space, transcending our physical limitations and allowing audiences to experience downtown theater no matter where they are.

The Balcony was created in March of 2020 as a curative response to pandemic isolation among performing artists. We are an international online performing arts venue creating new works and sharing performances by emerging, top-talented actors, writers, directors and performers from around the world with the goal of keeping ourselves creatively ‘alive’ until we can again perform side by side.  

In 2020 alone, The Balcony created and produced over 14 theatrical productions and collaborated in communities throughout the world - including but not limited to the United States, Kenya, Mexico, South America, Canada, Italy, and India.
